Guillermo del Toro’s newest TV series is one that currently has many people asking, “What is ‘The Strain‘ about?” FX has eagerly been broadcasting numerous teasers, yet they all give little detail into the series. Each teaser has showed a worm like creature with one nasty-looking mouth, something that reminds me of James Gunn’s, “Slither.” This is no alien plague though, FX is reigniting the vampire genre and giving it a good name.
This series will be based off of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s 2009 vampire horror novel, which has the same title. FX has ordered 13-episodes for the upcoming series, that will be premiering on July 13th. After a plane with the lights off and the doors closed lands at JFK airport, investigators discover 200 corpses and 4 survivors.
Soon these bodies start disappearing from the morgues and the epidemiologist and his team find themselves battling an ancient threat to all of humanity. The evil strain of vampirism begins to spread all over New York and if not stopped the whole world. Casting includes that of Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, and Miguel Gomez.Check out the latest trailer from FX’s “The Strain,” which gives us an actual glimpse at these vampire-like creatures.
